Film Synopsis: This powerful Short Docu-feature is by award-winning writer and director Nia T. Hill, and the women of Colored My Mind including an educator, an actress, a lawyer, a music manager, and a homemaker. They serve as our guides as we explore the overlooked world of autism, in particular in the Black and Brown communities. Through these women, we uncover the truths about why some Black and Brown children are not receiving the same medical diagnoses or are misdiagnosed. Through their stories, the narratives explore sadness, strength, joy, and the ultimate hope that binds us all to fight for a better tomorrow. Actors Blair Underwood and Nicole Ari Parker dramatize their stories in this Short appropriately entitled 'Diagnosis'.
Support Our Nonprofit - Colored My Mind is a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to educate, enlighten, and empower parents with children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout communities nationwide. CMM is seeking to raise $50,000 for programs and support system to be taken directly to local communities. CMM is planning to go into schools and various community centers in cities throughout the country so that families will know that they are not alone and to make them aware of the various resources available to all struggling with autism. CMM is also creating an online network to help and empower other families.
